Product Description
5300 kVA Triplex assembly generator excitation transformer
An excitation transformer supplies power to a rectifier which in turn provides the necessary DC voltage to excite the rotor of a large AC generator. The rotor must be excited before the generator can provide an output voltage from its stator.
The excitation transformer is most frequently a dry-type, cast resin transformer, which may be a conventional three-phase transformer, or may be a bank of three single phase transformers connected into a three-phase configuration. The three single phase transformer option has the advantage that in the event of failure of one transformer, it is possible to continue operation at a reduced power level, by reconnecting the two remaining transformers while the third transformer is replaced.
Since the generators are often in power plants, reliability is essential in order to maintain operation of the power plant. The cast resin transformer provides an ideal solution, due to its ability to withstand short-circuits and its resistance to the effects of contamination by coal dust or moisture which is often present in power plants.
Distribution Transformer - A 5300 kVA Triplex assembly generator excitation transformer for transferring alternating current energy from a primary distribution circuit to a secondary distribution circuit or consumer’s service unit.
