Product Description
2200 kVA 12 Pulse Rectifier Transformer for traction power
Rectifier Transformer - 2200 kVA 12 Pulse Rectifier Transformer used to increase or decrease an alternating current voltage, for use by a rectifier, which produces a direct current output voltage. The transformer may have one or more secondary windings, depending upon the rectifier circuit configuration.
Rectifier transformers incorporate design and construction techniques which are somewhat different from a standard distribution transformer. They are used to provide power to a diode or thyristor rectifier which converts alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). Unlike a distribution transformer which generally has one primary winding and one secondary winding, a rectifier transformer often has multiple secondary windings, for use with rectifiers such as 12-pulse, 18-pulse, 24-pulse etc.
They must be designed to handle the harmonic currents resulting from rectifier operation and in some applications are expected to withstand repeated short circuits. Rectifier transformers are used in many industrial applications such as electrochemical processes, variable frequency drives, high-voltage direct-current power transmission (HVDC), electro-static precipitators etc.
Another special application of rectifier transformers is for railway traction rectifiers, where the transformers are subjected to frequent overloads, for example, during rush hour periods.
